In Memory of Zar

June 9, 1982 ~ June 10, 2004

Zar lived a very full 22 years, and words cannot even begin to describe what he meant to all of us. He participated in 12 years of 4-H, 10 of those with Jenny and 2 with Jessica. He was ridden by several kids and adults over the years, and used in numerous parades, clinics, and demonstrations. He was a true "jack of all trades" competing in: halter, western, english, dressage, contesting, trail, western riding, reining, team penning, and costume classes. The opposite of the Arab's normal high-spiritedness, Zar was very laid back and lazy. That was, of course, until you put a jump or a cow in front of him. He had a huge passion and a big heart for jumping, but his biggest love of all was chasing cows. He found a delight in team roping the last 8 years of his life, and as some of you know, the team roping pen is not usually where you see Arabs. He had such a love for chasing cows that he couldn't even be pastured with them, because he would chase them 'til they collapsed. Pages of stories could be written about him, but stories are best captured in pictures...so I hope you enjoy the ones below.
